ICC was formed in 1981 as a University
centre of excellence in the theory and applications of
control systems engineering. Benchmarking is one
of the Centre's current research themes of direct
relevance to this project.
The techniques developed in the Centre have been
used in a number of industrial sectors. The largest
sector exploiting the research is that of the process
industries. Industrial projects in this sector have
included:
 |
Hot strip steel mill control
|
 |
Use of databases in the chemical industry
|
 |
PID and non-linear pH control in the
vitamins production plant
|
 |
Control of manufacturing co-ordinate
measurement machines
|
 |
Control of supply chains
|
|
ISC Ltd is an engineering consultancy providing
clients with solutions to specific problems, training
and technology awareness in the field of control.
Its application experience ranges from large process
plant through ship systems to servo-mechanisms
With head offices in Genoa, Milan and Ariccia (Rome), ABB
Energy Automation S.p.A is a unit of ABB
Automation Segment.
ABB Energy Automation designs and produces
supervision, communication, control and protection
systems for power generation plants and for power
transmission and distribution networks, combining its
technologies with the process know how and
professional services that are fundamental to develop
"turn-key" solutions for the process
industries.
ABB Energy Automation S.p.A. is the Italian leader
for control, protection, SCADA and communication
systems aimed to energy market, and boasts the major
Italian and global industrial groups among its
customers.

Established in 1956, CESI
is widely present in over 35 countries in the world.
CESI has been a market leader in electrical power
system studies and testing and certification of
electromechanical equipment offering the services of
its widely reputed technicians to electrical
utilities, electromechanical and electronic
manufacturers, large-scale users of electric power.
The 'Networks and Plants Automation Group', now
part of CESI 'Transmission and Distribution Networks
Business Unit', is directly involved in the project.
The group collects wide experience on automation
systems in Energy Production, Transport and
Distribution applications. They co-ordinated, via
large R&D projects, the introduction of innovative
information technologies within several classes of
ENEL automation systems in the above fields.
